Our England Family
The story of our England family in Kentucky kicks off with John England. Around 1806, John and his wife Susannah made the move from Burke County, North Carolina, settling first in Cumberland County, Kentucky before eventually finding their way to Adair County, Kentucky.
While many families kept moving West, their son Nathaniel England (who was born back in NC) decided to stay put. He became a fixture of Adair County and is the primary ancestor for most of the Englands you’ll find in the area today including our family.
Fast forward a few generations to my grandpa, Henry England—Nathaniel’s 2nd great-grandson. Henry was born in 1893 in Milltown, a quiet little rural village tucked away on the banks of Russell’s Creek. It’s a classic Kentucky story of deep roots in a small-town setting.
